The moment a baby is born, everyone’s attention, love, and care automatically go to the mother — which is fair, but what about the father? He also becomes something brand new that day — not just a husband anymore, but a father. And that, trust me, comes with its own responsibilities and emotions.
I still remember the moment after I delivered my son. I was semi-conscious, still recovering from surgery. In the room, it was just the three of us — me, my husband, and our tiny baby boy. And guess what? Our little one did his first potty — green and gooey. I wanted to get up and clean him but physically, I just couldn’t. What happened next made me emotional even in that drowsy state. My husband quietly took warm water, sterilized cotton, and gently cleaned our baby with so much patience and love.
He didn’t need any instructions. No one trained him. But he did it. And he did it beautifully. That was his very first moment as a father — and he nailed it without saying a word.
We often talk about how selfless mothers are — and they truly are — but somewhere in that narrative, we forget the silent strength of a father. They’re like coconuts — tough from the outside but so soft and emotional inside.
From the time I was pregnant, he was there at every step — giving me hope during mood swings, making sure I ate right, staying calm when I panicked, and joining me for all those hospital visits. He was as involved and invested in the journey as I was.
So moms-to-be, and even everyone around — let’s not ignore or downplay the role of a father. He may not carry the baby inside, but he carries the entire journey with you — with just as much love.
