Monsoon comes with its own swag, na? Rainy walks, hot chai, and the irresistible smell of roadside bhajiyas! But wait… that same temptation is the number one culprit behind stomach infections during this season. And trust me mommies, when kids fall sick with this, you feel absolutely helpless. Been there, done that.
🌧️ What causes stomach infections in monsoon?
- Damp, humid weather = perfect bacteria playground
- Contaminated water 🥴
- Eating food from outside stalls (I know… we all crave pani puri)
- Improper hand hygiene, especially in kids 😬
👶 What symptoms I noticed in my little one:
- Loose motions or diarrhea 💩
- Vomiting 🤮
- Mild fever and chills 🤒
- Stomach cramps and bloating 🤯
- Zero appetite and crankiness 🧒🙅♂️
That one time my son got food poisoning after an innocent-looking vada pav during Ganapati fair – it was horrible! He was dehydrated, couldn’t sleep, and was just lying dull on the sofa. That’s when I realized we moms need to be extra cautious during monsoon.
🍽️ My go-to prevention tips:
- Only boiled or filtered water for the entire family 💧
- Say strict no to chaats, pani puri, juice stalls 😢
- Always wash fruits and vegetables properly 🥗
- Handwash before and after every meal 🧼
- Keep ORS packets at home, always!
🫶 Healing at home:
For recovery, I go full desi:
- Moong dal khichdi
- Apple banana mashed
- Sabudana water
- Curd rice for gut balance
- Coconut water for hydration 🥥
Mommies, trust your instincts. If your baby says “my tummy’s hurting” more than once – listen. Act fast. And please avoid self-medication. Your doctor knows best. 💊
